FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Don't see the answer to your question below?
Email [email protected] for more information. Q: When is camp? Are there multiple sessions to choose from?
A: We offer 2 session during the summer. Our day camp is generally held the first full week after school ends for Fayette County. It will be 4-day camp (either M-Th or Tu-F) and will be held in the mornings, dismissing before lunch. Our evening camp will also span 4 days and will be held mid-to-late June. Q: What do I need to bring to camp? A: Shin guards, soccer ball, a large full water bottle, snack, sunscreen, indoor or tennis shoes in case of rain. Cleats are optional, but recommended. Q: Is my 1st grader too little? / Is my 8th grader too big? A: No and No. Our coaches divide players into small groups based on age and skill-level. Over the past 3 years, age group distribution was fairly evenly split 30% K-2nd / 40% 3rd-5th / 30% 6th-8th. Gender is usually split fairly evenly, too. Q: Where is camp held? A: Camp is held at the Henry Clay High School Stadium at 2100 Fontaine Road. In the event of rain, camp will be moved inside the high school building. Q: What schools are campers from? A: Each year our campers hail from more and more schools. In 2023, campers represented 34 area elementary and middle schools. Q: Do you offer sibling or multi-session discounts? A: Yes! Households registering siblings or registering for multiple sessions receive a 15% discount ($13-18 per camper per session) on the total registration cost by using the Coupon Code MULTI15 at checkout. Q: What happens if I enrolled my camper and the FCPS calendar changes due to weather days? A: If we have to move camp dates due to changes in the FCPS calendar, you will have the option to continue your enrollment or cancel for a full refund. Q: Is the enrollment fee for Young Devils Soccer Camp eligible for childcare reimbursement through my FSA? A: While personal benefit plans or circumstances may vary, our understanding is that Young Devils Soccer Camp enrollment fees are eligible for FSA reimbursement. Our day camp is run by Henry Clay Boys Soccer Boosters, Inc. (EIN 88-2860626). Our evening clinic is run by Henry Clay Girls Soccer Boosters, Inc. (EIN 61-1286518). Both are 501(c)(3) charitable support organizations for educational & amateur sports purposes. Q: Camp registration is full. How likely am I to get off the wait list? A: As we have cancellations or registration changes, wait listed campers will be contacted about registering for camp. We do our best to keep group sizes small. As we finalize our staffing and confirm enough counselors, it is common for us to open 10-12 additional spots to the wait list. Q: Do you offer need-based financial assistance? A: Yes! Please inquire by email to [email protected]. Q: Our summer plans are still uncertain, but I want to secure a spot at camp. Can I get a refund? A: We understand that schedules can change, and we will try to work with you as best we can if you need to cancel, regardless of the reason. After May 5, we can offer refunds only if a camper on the waitlist can fill the open slot. If the last day of class for Fayette County Public Schools changes after we open registration such that we have to change the dates of camp, we will offer refunds in full to campers who cannot attend during the new dates. Q: Is there a way to pay for camp other than online? A: We accept payment methods other than through our secure online store. To make arrangements for an alternative payment method, please email [email protected]. Q: How will any photos taken of my camper be used/distributed? Can I opt out of the media waiver? A: We respect your privacy and that of your campers. We will not publish pictures until after the camp session has ended. We will not name or tag campers or families in social media posts. Photos taken are primarily used in marketing for future camps, such as in the slideshow on this site. After camp, a link to an album of photos taken during camp is distributed by email to our camp mailing list for campers and families to access. If you would like to opt out of the media waiver please email the request to [email protected]. Q: How do I access photos from last summer's camp session? A: Email [email protected] requesting links to the photo albums from last year's camp session. (Note that we are only able to send links to families of campers who attended the session.) Q: Is there a flyer or other information that I can post to social media or pass along to others who may be interested? A: Yes, please. Camp is even more fun with friends! You can find our social media posts on the Henry Clay Boys Soccer accounts for Instagram and Threads and on the Facebook page for Young Devils Soccer Camp. You can also download information from the camp website at youngdevilscamp.weebly.com. Q: Do other coaches/teams at Henry Clay run sports camps? A: Yes. Several other sports hold camps or events at different points during the year, including Volleyball, Basketball, Cheer, Dance, Baseball and Cross Country. We try to publicize these on the Find Other HC Camps page of our website. Check back periodically to stay up to date. Q: Will construction at Henry Clay impact camp? A: Construction will not have started yet during the summer of 2024 camp sessions. |
